A Message from Dr. Patrick Shaw, Superintendent
Recently, District teachers, classified employees, and administrators agreed to a reduction in their work year of four non-paid furlough days, which is approximately 2% of their annual salary. As a result, the school year for 2010-11 will be reduced by four (4) days, from 180 to 176 days. The 2010-11 school calendar is provided on the reverse side of this letter.
On behalf of the Board and Administration we would like to express our sincere appreciation to all employees for their willingness to make such a personal sacrifice to assist the District in addressing the budget gap. This support by our employees allows the District to retain valuable teachers.
The District continues to collaborate with all stakeholders, employees and community members, to identify additional budget solutions. We encourage you to visit the District website at www.santeesd.net to obtain more detailed information about the budget and actions taken by the Board to address the State’s reductions in education funding.
