World Famous Zoologist Jack Hanna on Campus !

On Friday, February 10, Carlton Oaks 5th graders enjoyed an exceptional assembly from Sea World’s Education Department.  We were honored and excited by a very special guest, the world-famous Zoologist, Jack Hanna !

At the assembly many animals were brought out for students to see while Mr. Hanna led discussion about each animal and its habitat. The incredible array of animals included a baby crocodile, a baby alligator, a penguin, an Amazon parrot, an armadillo, and a kangaroo.  Jack spoke about the animals and their unique adaptations, their respiration, food sources, digestion and their specific geographic habitats. He also spoke about the importance of water sources, the earth’s oceans and the diversity of the world’s continents. Jack told student’s about the importance of their role in the conservation of these and other endangered animals. Finally Mr. Hanna stressed the importance of education and making a difference in the world each and every day.

Mr. Hanna is known for his television show Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures that has been on the air for almost fifteen years. He is also famous for his frequent appearances on Good Morning America, The Late Show with David Letterman, and Larry King Live, as well as serving as a wildlife correspondent for FOX News. He has a new series in the works called Into the Wild, which will feature him exploring exotic locales and encountering the animals that live in these places.

Carlton Oaks would like to thank Travis and his crew from Sea World San Diego for the outstanding assembly they brought to our school. Thank you to Mr. Jack Hanna for sharing his passion and taking time out of his extremely busy schedule to come to our school. We are honored to be able to provide this educational opportunity to our future college graduates.
