Vice Principal’s Message:Parents and Students,
I am proud to serve as Vice Principal of this extraordinary school. Rio Seco has a long-standing reputation for excellence – and in the past few months, I have learned that it is well-deserved. Rio Seco students are challenged, nurtured, and supported on a daily basis by our outstanding team of teachers and staff.
I have enjoyed getting to know the Rio Seco community over the past few months, and would like to share a bit about myself with you! First – my qualifications. I have seventeen years of classroom teaching experience in the Santee School District – including three years in Junior High, ten years in fifth grade, and seven years in kindergarten. I truly love working with students of all ages. Last year, I served as the Dean of Students at Pepper Drive School and as Demonstration Teacher at Hill Creek School. I grew up in North County, San Diego where I attended Diegueno Junior High and San Dieguito High School. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree from University of California San Diego, with a major in Political Science and minors in both French Literature and Teacher Education. I earned a teaching credential from UCSD as well. Recently, I earned a Masters of Science Degree in Educational Administration from National University. I am passionate about education – in fact, I tell my students I loved school so much, I decided never to leave!
When I am not at school, you can usually find me on the side of a soccer field cheering on my daughter Elizabeth (12) and my son Blake (9). Free time is on short supply these days, but when I do have some, I enjoy cooking, reading, travel, working out, and going to the beach with my family.
As your Vice Principal, I am committed to helping your child reach his or her full potential – socially, emotionally, and academically. I hope you will take a moment to introduce yourself to me when you see me around campus. I look forward to meeting you!
Erica Edmonston, Vice Principal
