I hope everyone had a fantastic week…so many of you went to the Fall Carnival, it was a blast! They said it was the best one yet!
Everyone turned in their field trip permission slip, their progress report signature section, and their Federal survey cards! Thank you so, so much. Timely returns help me stay organized.
Mr. Bennett and I had a great week with the kids. We started Unit 2 in Language Arts, which focuses solely on animals the roles they play in our lives. This week was all about SURVIVAL! The students read many books about adaptations, and how they play a part in animals’ survival.
Their wild animal research reports are really coming along. We are in the research portion, and I’m pushing the kids to pull as much information as they can out of their resources (books, EPIC, google, etc.).
In math, we are working on word problems… this week’s homework has one, so keep your eyes out for it!
In science, the students were tracking the progress of their plants in Mrs. Grable’s class, and in social studies, we learned all about the evolution of methods of transportation.

Welcome to Room 19!
I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. Welcome to Cajon Park for the 2018-2019 school year! My name is Mrs. Boen, and I am your child’s 2nd grade teacher.
I believe that communication is key to creating strong relationships with families. To that end, I will be updating my website on a regular basis to keep you aware of the exciting events going on in our classroom. I will also be sending out emails and messages through ClassDojo, so please be checking for those. I encourage you to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org, send a note, or leave me a voicemail at (619) 956-2449 if you have ANY questions or concerns.
Your child will be receiving a Falcon Folder. This Falcon Folder will hold any handouts and important paperwork. The folder will need to be returned to school every day to be checked.
I am so happy to be working with you and your child, and promise to do my utmost to ensure that they reach their full potential while in my class!
