  • Hello families!

Hard to believe that our third week of school is already in the books! We had an exciting week this week, and the kids are absolutely WONDERFUL!

    We…

Got our iPads! The kids were beyond thrilled, and have done a great job remembering to bring them to school, following the District guidelines, and discovering all the new apps we use. I am a strong believer in preparing our children for this ever-changing technologically-advanced world, so the iPads will be an ever-present resource in our classroom for research, creation, and review! This week, we’ve already worked in Book Creator, Classkick, Spelling City, Pixie, Class Dojo, and navigated our way through Safari to look things up. THANK YOU FOR GETTING THE ELECTRONIC FORMS COMPLETED! OUR CLASS IS 100% DONE!!!! That is the first time in five years that has happened so quickly in my classroom! I am so appreciative!

Began our first week of our Language Arts curriculum. The students learned all about how we depend on each other and our families. We practiced the short “a” and “i” sound, how to recognize a fantasy genre, identify the main topic and key details in a text, and visualize important parts of the story.

Started using Math Mountains and linker cubes to add simple numbers! The students did a great job representing numbers with the linker cubes and combining them to create larger numbers.

They received an awesome plant lesson in science with Mrs. Grable, and we talked about what life was like LONG AGO, and how it compares to life NOW in our Social Studies lesson.

Everyone is all signed up for Parent/Teacher conferences. I will send out appointment confirmations once it gets closer to November.

Also, we had PERFECT ATTENDANCE this week! That is so awesome!

An extra special “THANK YOU” to all the incredible classroom donations. My heart is over-flowing with gratitude.

    Hello Families!

The kids had a great first full week of school! They are really working hard to create a positive and loving classroom environment where everyone has a chance to learn.

THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RDIN OBSERVANCE OF LABOR DAY!

This week we had our Back to School Night for parents and guardians. I appreciate those that were able to attend, but if you weren’t, never fear! I will be linking my Back to School Night presentation to my website. Just click the link, and it will take you right to it.

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that has made donations to our classroom. My heart is overflowing with gratitude. I have never had so many incredible families willing to help out our classroom family.

The kids did an incredible STEM activity today called “Saving Fred”. Ask them about it, they were so excited!!!

For math, we have been practicing our Counting Collections. Your child is doing great with them, so be sure to ask them about these, as well.

Finally, we have really been working on learning and practicing MANNERS this week, and developing a GROWTH MINDSET (changing the internal thought process from “I can’t do this! to I can’t do this…YET!”) We also finished our Digital Citizenship program, so we are ready for our iPads!!!

iPads are set for delivery on Wednesday, September 5th. We are beyond excited and will be spending time on that day getting to know how to use them, and learning which apps we will be utilizing in class.

The first homework will be going home next Friday, September 7thin their FALCON FOLDERS.

Scholastic Book Orders are due September 14th.

Class Dojo is up and running! All the kids earned their points for a trip to the treasure box. If any families have some items for the treasure box, we would love to add them!

If you ever have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

    HAVE A GREAT 3-DAY WEEKEND!!!

    Mrs. Amanda M. Boen

    Welcome to Room 19!

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. Welcome to Cajon Park for the 2018-2019 school year!  My name is Mrs. Boen, and I am your child’s 2nd grade teacher.

I believe that communication is key to creating strong relationships with families.  To that end, I will be updating my website on a regular basis to keep you aware of the exciting events going on in our classroom.  I will also be sending out emails and messages through ClassDojo, so please be checking for those.  I encourage you to e-mail me at amanda.boen@santeesd.net, send a note, or leave me a voicemail at (619) 956-2449 if you have ANY questions or concerns.

Your child will be receiving a Falcon Folder. This Falcon Folder will hold any handouts and important paperwork.  The folder will need to be returned to school every day to be checked.

I am so happy to be working with you and your child, and promise to do my utmost to ensure that they reach their full potential while in my class!

                 Sincerely,
                 Mrs. Boen
