Good Afternoon Cajon Park Families,

Don’t forget, school starts on Monday at 7:45.  Here are a few important reminders:

“Open” Kindergarten Position

When checking who your child’s teacher is this evening, some kindergarten parents will see that the teacher is “open”, or something to that effect.  The teacher for these students in Ms. McKee.  She recently joined our team and we are waiting for our student data system to add her name.

Gates Closed Until 2:01

Since we are no longer to provide supervision to students between dismissal times, and in order to ensure campus safety and security, the campus gates will be closed until all students are released.  That means that parents who arrive at or before early dismissal and want to wait until second dismissal will have to wait outside of the gates until second dismissal at 2:01.  Primary grade teachers will walk the students out to the front to be picked up.  Please see the message below regarding after school supervision for early release students who wait for late release students.  Attached to this email is information regarding the Sibling Care program provided by our district (see page 3).

Accessing Your Child’s Teacher

The District will be posting the 2017‐18 school year class list online. This list will be available today after 6:00 PM.  Parents/Guardians who have created a PowerSchool account can log in a view the homeroom teacher assignment one hour earlier at 5:00 PM on class posting day.

To find your child’s class list for School Year 2017‐18, please visit the school or District website (www.santeesd.net) today after 6:00 PM.  There will be a link with instructions.

The online class list will be password protected. The password for Cajon Park is leader. This password is case sensitive and only good for Cajon Park.  Please do not lose this password. You will need it to access the class list.

After School Supervision

As I shared in the last Falcon Email last year, Cajon Park is no longer able to supervise students at early release who wait for a sibling at the second release time.  Our previous practice was to have a teacher supervise these students at the lunch tables and library.

This supervision is not possible anymore.  We do have options for supervision for your convenience through our Project Safe program. The program that provides supervision between the two dismissal times is called Sibling Care. Attached is information on Sibling Care (see page 3).  Again, students will need to either be picked-up by an adult after early dismissal, walk home (if old enough), or attend the Project Safe Sibling Care Program.

Your child will be bringing home important information on the first day of school, so please be on the lookout for it.  As in the past, each Friday I will send an email with updates and important information.  We are looking forward to seeing you and our students next week!

Regards,

Mike Olander
