Hello! My name is Chelsey Clixby and I'm a special education teacher at Cajon Park.
I work with students in a mild/moderate, special day class setting in the 1st through 4th grade.
I am a native San Diegan but have also lived and taught in Montana and Idaho.
I currently live in East County with my children, husband and grandma. Not to mention four dogs and three cats!
I enjoy spending time with family, reading, crafts and being outside.
I come from a family of innovative and unique teachers who left their mark on their students as well as sparked my own passion for becoming an educator. They continue to inspire, challenge and drive me today.
My history in Special Education began in high school. I worked with peers with disabilities in the inclusion setting. I continued with adults and children with disabilities through summer day camp programs as well as in the Head Start setting. It was during my time working with preschool students that I found I had an affinity for handling behavior challenges, often rotating to different classes in order to provide support.
This led me to complete dual degrees in special and general education through Western Governor's University.
I continue to educate and challenge myself to meet the many unique needs of the students I have encounter, both in and out of class.
