Welcome to Cajon Park! I am your childs' sixth grade math, social studies, PE and public speaking teacher. I am so excited to meet and get to work with you over the course of this year! I believe that when parents and teachers work together, children do better at school. Using the "Newsflash" tab is a great way for students and parents to make sure all the homework is completed. Also, please check your child's notebook/planner everyday and sign it every week. Students who do not acquire a parent's signature by Friday will receive a lower citizenship grade. Your child will write the day's assignments in his/her planner. He/she will check off each completed item. Anything not checked off is considered homework. If your child uses his/her time wisely he/she should average about one half hour of homework per night.
Also, I send out Remind text messages here is the link: https://www.remind.com/join/a6gca8
We want a positive learning environment for your child, we are introducing our Falcon Proud Mantra (see below) that encapsulates behavior expectations set forth in the Step Discipline System. This fits nicely with my philosophy of positive reinforcement and look forward to implementing incentives to encourage PROUD behavior!

A little bit about myself; this is my eighth year at Cajon Park and I am so lucky to work with such an amazing group of educators. I received my bachelors from San Diego State University and masters degree from National University. I am a California native and spend my free time with my family and running. Throughout the year, I will be updating my website with homework assignments, events and other upcoming dates.
I would like students to have the following supplies:
- A 3-ring binder with divider tabs for Math (make sure it isn’t too big to fit in your backpack).
- Two highlighter markers of different colors.
- Dry erase markers and eraser (a balled sock works well)
- A steady supply of lined binder paper and graph paper (loose leaf paper please, not spiral bound notebooks)
- A steady supply of pencils.
- A pencil sharpener
- A set of crayons, colored pencils, or felt tip markers (Crayola).
- A ruler with standard and metric units.
- A glue stick.
- Two spiraled notebooks
I have many goals for this year. My first goal is to create a community where all feel safe to take risks, make mistakes, and grow as human beings. My second goal is to connect content to real world examples and make connections to our own lives. My third goal is that we all come to class prepared, open-minded, and ready to learn. Lastly, I want our classroom to be a place that we enjoy being in; we are going to have a lot of fun!
I look forward to meeting you on the first day of school, and to meeting parents/guardians on back to school night- August 29, 2017.
