The group of students pictured above is a part of our Pepper Drive Middle School Art Club led by two very talented and dedicated parents Mrs. Alisa Marrone (Pepper Drive Arts Attack Coordinator) and Mr. David Carrillo. The art club allows middle school students to use their teamwork skills, love for art and creativity every Thursday after school from 2:50-3:50.
This beautiful piece of art was created by the entire art club. By using Van Gough’s concept as their guide the students created this astonishing masterpiece. They used a shadow box to enclose the beautiful work of art which was made with acrylic paints and embedded with LED lights. This student version of Starry Night took approximately 10 weeks to accomplish. The combined effort was a great show of artistic talent and team work.
Pictured above are members of the Art Club who led student art stations during the District’s Annual Art Show. Other members of the club came out to show their support and see the excellent job they did as a group. The art piece auctioned for $60 ! All proceeds of the art action went directly back to the Art’s Attack Program. We thank the Santee Education Foundation for the opportunity their work has afforded our students to participate in Arts Attack and in the Annual Art Show. We are all so very proud of our art club members and thank those students pictured who went above and beyond to assist at the Annual Art Auction.
We are proud that Pepper Drive School was recognized as a California Distinguished School for the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 school years and is now one of 35 schools in the State of California nominated for the Blue Ribbon Award.
