• About the Literacy Center

Our Literacy Center serves approximately 150 students for 30 minutes, four days per week.  The students receive reading and writing instruction in a small group setting.  This instruction takes place during the school day and assists the children in becoming proficient at grade level skills.
We support our families with an outreach program for parents.  It is held after school hours and informs and supports parents' efforts as they work with their children at home.  Materials and training are provided.
The Center houses professional resources for our teachers, Literature Kits for classroom use, computer stations, and thousands of books for guided reading groups and author studies.
Our goal is to ensure that every child reaches their full potential and leaves Rio Seco School ready for the rigorous academic challenges of high school, college, and their career goals.
We welcome visitors and would love to have you experience our program.
