Tiffani Brown, Vice Principal
I am thrilled to be joining the team here at Pepper Drive!
To truly help you understand what makes me the educator I am, we would have to go back to 1983 and take a peek inside my Kindergarten class in room 1 at Cajon Park School. This is where my adventure with learning and my bond with the Santee School District began. My school experience as a child was marked with heartwarming memories. School ALWAYS felt like an extension of my family and it is why, to this day, I place such a high value on being an active and contributing member of this same community. I truly feel called to serve the city that raised me.
After attending college at Arizona State University, I was thrilled to take on a position as a music teacher in Rancho Santa Fe, where I worked for 3 years. This was an incredible opportunity to learn the ins and outs of every different grade level, but ultimately I felt called to come home to Santee. I was offered a job teaching 5th grade the following year at Rio Seco. My experience teaching middle school as a music teacher made it clear that working with teenagers was my calling. When an opening in 8th grade Language Arts came on the horizon, I knew that was my next adventure!
I began teaching 7th and 8th grade language arts at Rio Seco that year and continued on in that role for the next six years adding electives in Journalism, Technology, Web Design, and Yearbook. I began to cultivate my love of crafting professional learning opportunities and seeking leadership opportunities within the school, district, and larger education community. In 2015 the district announced that is was looking for teachers with a passion for curriculum, technology, and professional development to serve as Teachers on Special Assignment, and so my next chapter began as a Curriculum Resource Teacher (CRT), where I learned the ropes of instructional coaching and built relationships with the teachers and administrators throughout Santee. I had the privilege of serving four years with an incredible team of inspiring and talented teachers.
Instructional Coaching isn’t far removed from teaching in a traditional classroom. Any given day still begins with the question, What do our students need? This makes the transition to administration a natural one. Every day I aim to serve our students, making sure they have what they need to be academically, socially, and emotionally successful!
In addition to my role as Vice Principal here at Pepper Drive, I also serve as the Vice President of San Diego CUE (Innovation in Education) and as an adjunct faculty member at USD. I hold Master's degrees in Education as well as English Literature with an emphasis in Film Studies, As well as being a Google for Education Certified Trainer.
I am a Star Wars superfan, have traveled the world, and raised 4 service dogs. I travel back to London every few years because it is my favorite place in the whole world! My husband and I have three pups of our own, Luke the Yellow Lab, Luna the Pug, and Linus the Golden Retriever.
My door is open to you. I can't wait to learn more about our Pepper families.
