• Hello, and welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! I am Michelle Chase and I will be your child's teacher this year. I have been teaching in Santee School District since 1995. I've taught second, third, and fourth grades at Chet F. Harritt and here at Rio Seco. I have two teaching credentials, one in regular education and one in special education, as well as a master's degree in education. I have a wonderful, supportive husband and six amazing children, two sons, a daughter, and three wonderful step-daughters. I also have the cutest dog ever named Murphy.

We are going to have a fun, but challenging year as our district continues to implement the use of technology in the classroom. My number one goal is to help every child in my class feel welcome and safe.  I want your child to enjoy school and love coming here every day. Parent/ teacher communication is very important to me, so I will communicate regularly through email. You are welcome to email me this weekend just to say hi, or to ask any questions. Academically, the most valuable thing you can do for your child this year is to start them right away reading every night. Another very important thing is for your kiddos to start practicing their multiplication facts.  Students can get behind quickly if they don't have those memorized. Thank you for your support with this.

We are fortunate to have Sherrie Rutherford student teaching in our classroom for the first 12 weeks. She is working on her teaching credential through SDSU. She has a love for kids and is going to be a great addition to Room 9.

I am looking forward to meeting you and your child. Back-to-School Night will be on September 5th. Please don't ever hesitate to call me or send me an email with any questions or concerns.

    Sincerely,

    Michelle Chase
