Welcome to the 2017-18

Life Science Class

My name is Mr. Jennings, and I will be your child’s 7th grade Life Science Teacher.  I have taught in the Santee School District for over 20 years.  I hold Credentials in Physical Education, and Life Science .   I am also Clad, and Gate Certified.

I am a native San Diegan. I spent my high school years at Monte Vista.  I attended SDSU were I received my Bachelors Degree.  I earned my Teaching Credential and Masters Degree through National University.  I have been blessed with a wonderful wife (Shana) and two great kids, Dalton (20) and Kalen (18).  I have coached High School Baseball and Football for 16 years at Monte Vista and El Capitan, I also coached  AYSO Soccer and Little League teams.

We are moving to the NGSS over the next couple of years. Please check under syllabus for more specific subject area of study.

GRADING- Students will earn points for tests, quizzes, homework, group work, and participation.  Students will also earn points for following directions, showing effort, and working well with others.  I will post grades in the classroom regularly so your child will be informed of his/her academic success.  If a student is starting to slip, I will step in and contact the parents through one of the following; printout of student grades, Student Planner, email or a phone call.  Grades are also on “Power Grade” which can be found by going to the district website.  This will allow you to check your child’s grade at any time!

HOMEWORK-You will not see a lot of little assignments coming home from my class.  Most homework assignments will be project-oriented, including  a Science Fair Project.  Any homework that is missed can be made up.  I usually give one week for students to make up missing assignment.

SUPPLIES- Students should be ready to work when they enter the classroom.  The following is what they need to bring to class daily:  lined paper, pencils with erasers, student planner and a place in their three-ring binders for Science.

I look forward to having a great year in Life Science.
