• Autobiography or Biography Book Report

    Due Dec. 15th

     

    Directions: The autobiography or biography book you choose must be your appropriate reading level, a book you have not read independently yet, or read together in class.  Your speech must be 2-3 minutes long. You will be graded on how well you talk about your book.  Book reports are to be completed at home - not in class.

     

    Our school library has a wide selection of autobiographies and biographies that you're welcome to check out and take home for this report.

     

    Autobiographical or Biographical Book Speeches must include:

    ·        The title

    ·        The author

    ·        The genre (autobiography or biography)

    ·        8 facts (WRITTEN OR TYPED ON THE BACK OF THE PORTRAIT)

    ·        Volume

    ·        Enunciation (clear speaking voice)

    ·        Posture/Poise

    ·        Correct length of time (2 to 3 minutes)

    ·        Eye contact

     Autobiography or Biography

     

    Portrait. Hand-drawn (12X18) portrait of your person with a paper frame (paper is available in the classroom by request). Mount 8 sentences on back to describe famous person's accomplishment.

     

    You must be prepared on the assigned day with a portrait and your speech (I have index cards you may use if you wish).  

     

      

     

     

    Book Reports 

    There will be book speeches due throughout the school year. The books you choose must be grade level appropriate in length (approximately 100 pages), appropriate reading level, a book you have not read yet or read together in class.  Your speech must be 2-3 minutes long. You will be graded on how well you talk about your book.  Book reports are to be completed at home - not in class.

    Fiction Book Speeches must include:

    1.   The title

    2.   The author

    3.   The genre

    4.   Main characters

    5.   Setting

    6.   Problem and solution

    7.   Overall summary (beginning, middle, and end)

    8.   Volume

    9.   Enunciation (clear speaking voice)

    10.  Posture/Poise

    11.  Correct length of time (2 to 3 minutes)

    12.   Eye contact

     

    Non-Fiction, Autobiographical or Biographical Book Speeches must include:

    1.   The title

    2.   The author

    3. The genre

    4. 8 facts

    5.   Volume

    You must be ready on the assigned day. You need to prepare your own note cards (we have index cards you may use). Your project should be finished and presentable on the due date.

    Movie Poster. Create a movie poster designed to advertise your book that has been made into a movie. Use paper at least 12X18 or poster board.  We have poster board you may use. Must include color. Neatness counts!

    Your choice!  You may do your favorite project or create your own!  Examples include:  a talk show, video, PowerPoint, song, sculpture, Prezi presentation, puppet show.  Use your imagination!

    You may choose any genre of book you’d like to read! Create a board game.  Decorate it based on the book’s setting, use main characters as game pieces, and have a definite way to win the game.  I have poster board and construction paper for anyone who would like to use it.  Type up directions for your game so we can play it in class.
