Dear Parents,

Over the summer Chet F. Harritt will be providing an online opportunity for your child to increase his or her math and language arts skills with a special field trip next fall for students who meet their learning target.

Our new program, i-ready, (available at www.i-ready.com) offers additional support for language arts and mathematics through engaging and interactive software-based lessons. We are hoping that students will commit to 20 minutes per weekday of learning over students’ eight week Summer Break to help them maintain and increase their academic skills, for a total of about 13 and a half hours of computer time using the system over the course of the summer.

As a reward for devoting time and effort to meeting this goal, every student who completes lessons using the software over Summer Break and meets his or her 13 and a half hour total time goal (20 minutes per day, on average, for each weekday over Break) will receive a certificate of achievement at an assembly in the fall and will also be eligible to participate in a field trip to the Cameron YMCA pool in September.
