Hi, My name is Beth Butterfield and I will be your child's teacher this year. I moved to California in 1994 and I have been teaching in the Santee School District since 1999. I have three children, two grandchildren, and countless heartstrings attached to former students who still come to visit me. This is the best job in the world!
I received my BA in Language Arts from Reed College in Portland, Oregon and my teaching credential from National University here in San Diego. I have been trained at the Seeds Institute at UCLA and at the Buck Institute in Project-Based Learning. I have also trained at the Ideas Institute as a member of the Santee School District team of science teachers. I attended the Reading and Writing Project Institute at the Teachers College at Columbia University in New York City, and I have all kinds of exciting new ideas and techniques for teaching our budding young writers. I am also a former muralist, so I love to work art into everything!
I look forward to meeting you all at the beginning of our school year and welcome your participation in our collaborative learning experiences. I know that many of you are experts in your field and have an important voice. Please let me know if you would be willing to come to our class to share your knowledge or help out in the classroom. See you soon!
