State law now requires that all incoming 7th - 12th graders show proof of having received a whooping cough booster shot, called Tdap, before entering school. Students who do not show proof of having received this booster shot prior to the beginning of the school year will not be allowed to start school.
Any Tdap received on or after the 7th birthday meets the new requirement. Dtap and Td vaccines do not meet the new requirement.
We encourage you to contact your child's doctor now to schedule an immunization appointment. Please provide your school's health clerk with your child's updated immunization record as soon as the Tdap booster shot is received.
