The Santee School District Board of Education met at 6 p.m. October 15, 2024. Meeting highlights included:

Reports and Presentations

  • Spotlight on Education: Sycamore Canyon School staff provided the Board of
Education with an update on student assessment and survey results from the 2023-24 school year as well as site collaboration plans for the 2024-25 school year.
  • The 2023-2024 CAASPP state testing data became available to the public on October 15. Administration provided a district level summary for our 3rd-8th
grade students progress on this summative measure in ELA, Math, and Science.

Discussion and/or Action Items

  • The Board granted tenure to (14) eligible certificated employees, effective after the end of their first day of work in the 2024-2025 school year. Each of these individuals has worked at least two years as required by Education Code and have demonstrated quality instructional service as assessed by each principal responsible. Granting tenure will allow the District to maintain qualified employees and enhance student learning.
  • At the October 1, 2024 meeting, Administration presented quotes for several safety and security needs projects, and the Board voted to move forward with the indoor/outdoor paging/clock system and visitor management system upgrades. Administration provided an overview of these two systems, and the Board approved the funding sources to fund these projects.

The next regular meeting of the Santee School District Board of Education will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in the Educational Resource Center, 9619 Cuyamaca, Santee. Meetings can also be live-streamed at santeesd.net/LiveBoardMeeting.
