The Santee School District Board of Education met at 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Meeting highlights included:

Reports and Presentations

  • The Board of Education honored students who were selected to compete in the Academic Achievement Award competition for the 2024-25 school year.

    Congratulations to our winners:
    • Overall winner - Amelie Hernandez, Rio Seco
    • Speech winner – Maxwell Garmo, Pepper Drive
    • Essay winner – Daniel Park, Carlton Oaks
    • Mathematics winner – Ellie Seguin, Carlton Hills

Public Hearing

  • A public hearing was held for Santee Teacher’s Association (STA) Initial Proposal to Modify Articles of the Collective Bargaining Agreement Between Santee School District and STA Details can be found in the Board Packet.

Discussion and/or Action Items

  • The board appointed Noelle Suffield and Jorge Flores-Blanco as Vice Principals. Ms. Suffield currently serves as an Instruction and Data Support Teacher in La Mesa-Spring Valley School District since 2023. Mr. Flores-Blanco currently serves as the Interim Executive Director of EJE Academies since October 2024.  

  • The board approved the implementation of ParentSquare to serve as the District’s unified communications platform. This platform will launch with the 2025-26 school year.

  • Student Behavioral Health Incentive Program (SBHIP) Update: staff provided an update on SBHIP project plans, including current billing procedures and work the team has performed to date. The SBHIP grant increases student access to mental health supports and bridges the gap between school districts and managed care plans.

The next regular meeting of the Santee School District Board of Education will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in the Educational Resource Center, 9619 Cuyamaca, Santee. Meetings can also be live-streamed at santeesd.net/LiveBoardMeeting.
