The Santee School District Board of Education met at 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Meeting highlights included:
Reports and Presentations
- 2024-2025 Local Performance Indicator Self-Reflection Presentation: The California School Dashboard provides parents and educators with information on school and district progress on local indicators beyond test scores alone. State data is not available for some priority areas identified in the Local Control Funding Formula statute. For these priority areas, the State Board of Education approved the local indicators, which are based on information that a local educational agency collects locally. Using the approved self-reflection tools for each local indicator in the Dashboard, the District achieved a rating of “Standard Met” for each area. To review the local indicators, view the Board Packet.
Public Hearing
- A public hearing was held for Use of Education Protection Account Funds for 2025-26. The Santee School District estimates that it will receive $11,253,206 in EPA funds for the 2025-26 fiscal year. Since certificated non-management teacher salaries represent the largest portion of the District’s unrestricted general fund budget, the District has determined to expend the EPA funds on this expenditure category. View the Board Packet for more information.
Discussion and/or Action Items
- Tessa Mundt was appointed as Executive Assistant I in Business Services. Ms. Mundt has demonstrated exceptional administrative and organizational abilities throughout her career, most recently serving as an Accounting Assistant III in Business Services. In this role, she has consistently delivered high-quality support to senior staff, managing complex tasks and ensuring efficient workflows. Prior to this, Ms. Mundt held the position of Secretary II at Cajon Park School from 2017 to 2023, where she gained extensive experience in office management and support services. Her career also includes a diverse background in various roles such as Team Lead/Customer Support Manager, Title Assistant, Sales & Marketing Executive Assistant, Accounting Assistant, and Office Manager.
- The Board approved the revised Board of Education Meeting Calendar for 2025, combining both December meetings to occur on December 9. The full calendar can be viewed here.
- Year two of the district's current Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) was adopted. Legislation enacting the Local Control Funding Formula requires school districts to develop and adopt a three-year (LCAP) and to update the plan every year. The LCAP is a strategic planning instrument involving significant engagement of stakeholders to inform decision-making for the formation of Goals and Action Steps. More information on the LCAP can be viewed at santeesd.net/LCAP.
- The Board approved the Managed Services Provider Agreement with Aya Healthcare to support District access to the best salary rates and the highest quality staff in San Diego County to fill vacant positions within the Special Education Department.
- The Board adopted the 2025-26 budget as presented. Revisions to the budget will be brought back to the Board periodically throughout the year as the State’s budget is adopted and assumptions or expenditures change. More information about the budget can be found here.
The next regular meeting of the Santee School District Board of Education will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in the Educational Resource Center, 9619 Cuyamaca, Santee. Meetings can also be live-streamed at santeesd.net/LiveBoardMeeting.
