The Santee School District Board of Education met at 6 p.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Meeting highlights included:

Reports and Presentations

  • Dr. Lisa Paisley, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, and Dr.
Marcia Hamilton, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, presented the MidYear LCAP Update. Our mid-year summary provides outcome data related to progress on our metrics for the 2025-2026 school year. The summary also provides implementation data on our action steps as well as mid-year expenditures.

Discussion and/or Action Items

  • Approval of Field Trips Not on the Annual Pre-Approved List: Knotts Berry Farm was added to the approved list of field trip destinations.

  • Naming of Facility: the Board discussed parameters for creating a citizen advisory committee by June 1, 2026, to discuss the process for naming a District facility. The committee will be by appointment only.

  • Revised Board Meeting Calendar for 2026: The County Registrar of Voters has requested use of District schools for the gubernatorial primary elections, on June 2, 2026. To avoid impacting at a school site, the District will be offering the use of the Educational Resource Center instead. Because the gubernatorial elections fall on the same date as a calendared Board of Education meeting, the Board will meet on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, instead of June 2.

  • Board of Education Self-Evaluation: The Board discussed this year's self evaluation and proposed revisions to the self evaluation tool for next year.

  • Presentation on Potential Projects for a Possible November 2026 General Obligation Bond Tax Extension: Administration presented an overview of two bond measure options under consideration for the November 2026 ballot and the proposed projects associated with each option.

Board Policies and Bylaws

  • Revisions were approved for Board Policies (BP):

    • BP 1445 – Response to Immigration Enforcement

    • Elimination of BP/AR 5145.13 – Response to Immigration Enforcement
