CAASPP / CAST
All students in grades 3 through 8 will take an English Language Arts and a Math assessment in April or May. Additionally, students in grades 5 and 8 take a Science assessment (CAST) during the same time period. The results of these assessments are used to review school and district performance levels, as reported on the California Schools Dashboard.
Interim Assessments
In order to prepare students in grades 3 through 8 for the CAASPP and CAST assessments, teachers administer Interim Assessments in ELA and Math during the first two trimesters. These are shorter assessments with a similar format and content level to the end-of-year tests. Results help inform the classroom teacher about students' progress.
California Alternate Assessments (CAA)
Students with the most significant cognitive disabilities, as identified by their IEP team, take these alternate versions of assessments for ELA, Math, and Science. The purpose of the CAAs is to measure what students know and can do, so students can receive the support they need.
Physical Fitness Testing (PFT)
This series of physical activities is given each February and March to 5th and 7th grade students. Participation rates are reported in each school's accountability report card (SARC).
