Santee School District Shines in Newly Released 2025 California School Dashboard
Posted on 12/05/2025

The State has released the 2025 California School Dashboard (Dashboard), reporting performance and progress for the 2024–25 school year across multiple academic and school climate indicators. The Dashboard highlights results in:

  • English Language Arts/Literacy (ELA)
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • English Learner Progress
  • Chronic Absenteeism
  • Suspension Rates

The Dashboard uses a color-coded system to visually represent both current performance and improvement over time. Colors are assigned by combining this year’s results with changes from the previous year, providing a comprehensive picture of student progress. (More details on Dashboard colors can be found in this Ed Source article.)

Santee School District Is BACK in the GREEN!
This year marks a major milestone for Santee School District: we are officially back in the Green for all three academic indicators - ELA, Math, and Science - reflecting three years of steady, continuous improvement. Our students’ scores increased from the prior school year and remain above both State and County averages, propelling the district forward in a meaningful way.

But the biggest celebration of all comes from our non-academic indicators - for the first time since the pandemic, Santee School District is in the GREEN for both Chronic Absenteeism and Suspension Rates.

These gains are directly tied to the dedication of our school staff, the work of our newly implemented Attendance Team, and strategic investments in a more robust Attendance System. The data shows that our collective efforts are making a measurable difference — and our students are benefiting.

English Learner Progress continues to show meaningful improvement, rising from Orange in 2023–24 to Yellow in 2024–25. This upward trend reflects the dedication of our staff, who will continue implementing targeted instructional strategies and tiered systems of support to help our multilingual learners thrive.

“We are very happy to be back in the Green in ELA, Math, and Science. But I am extremely happy to see the improvement in our Chronic Absenteeism and Suspension Rates," said Superintendent Dr. Kristin Baranski. "Our team has worked incredibly hard in these areas to make sure kids are present and thriving — kids can’t learn if they aren’t here.”

Santee School District also remains the only district in East County San Diego currently performing in the Green across those five indicators.

Using Data to Strengthen Student Success
Dashboard results are an important tool for understanding how well learning acceleration efforts and student support systems are working. Our district will continue to use these results — along with progress reports, student work, teacher insights, and site-level data — to build a clear picture of what’s working and where additional growth is needed.
