Reports and Presentations
- Spotlight on Education: Poulima, a third-grade student at Carlton Oaks, has been selected as a National Youth Heart Ambassador for the American Heart Association (AHA) for the 2024-2025 school year. Out of more than 800 applicants nationwide, Poulima was chosen as one of only 20 students - and the only student from the western United States - selected to represent the AHA as a Youth Heart Ambassador. As part of this incredible honor, Poulima will serve as a voice for heart health, representing the AHA and the Kids Heart Challenge in the coming year.
- Presentation of STA Proposal: STA's initial proposal to modify articles of the collective bargaining agreement between the Santee School District and STA were presented. Copies of the STA proposal have been posted for the public to read at the Santee Chamber of Commerce, Santee City Hall, District Education Center and all District site offices.
- Spotlight: The Board recognized Member Elana Levens-Craigs 12 years of service on the Board of Education. You can read more about her tenure and impact here.
Public Hearing
- A public hearing was held for Santee Teachers Association’s (STA) initial proposal to modify articles of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Santee School District and STA.
Discussion and/or Action Items
- The Board approved a positive certification for the First Interim Report regarding the District’s ability to meet its financial obligations for the 2024-25 fiscal year and two subsequent years.
Board Policies and Bylaws
The Board Approved Revised Board Policies (BP):
- BP/AR 6141.2 – Recognition of Religious Beliefs and Customs: Updated to provide clearer guidance on accommodating diverse religious practices while maintaining neutrality in district operations.
- BP/AR 6159.2 – Nonpublic, Nonsectarian School and Agency Services for Special Education: Revised to reflect updated regulations and clarify procedures for accessing these specialized services.
- BP/AR 6144—Controversial Issues: This document has been updated to align with new state guidance on fostering balanced discussions of sensitive topics and ensuring they are handled respectfully and educationally.
