The Santee School District Board of Education met at 6 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Meeting highlights included:
Reports and Presentations
- The Board authorized the refinancing of the 2016 General Obligation bonds by converting CABs to current interest bonds. This approach would convert the existing CABs into current interest bonds, which pay interest annually rather than at maturity. Estimated taxpayer savings would exceed $4 million, realized through lower tax rates between FY 2038 and FY 2045. However, this option would result in modest tax rate increases (ranging from $0.50 to $4.00 per $100,000 of assessed value) from FY 2027 through FY 2036.
- Dale Scott & Company provided the Board information on debt management strategies and financing options for capital improvement projects. The Board discussed working with Dale Scott & Company and staff to do more research into putting a bond on the 2026 election ballot.
- The Board ratified the tentative agreements between Santee School District and the Santee Teachers Association concerning the following articles:
- Article IX, Class Size
- Article X, Transfers
- Article XIII, Hours of Employment
- Article XV, Salary Provisions
- Article XXIII, Term
- The Board approved the Side Letter between Santee
School District and Santee Teachers Association regarding Middle School Preparation Periods.
