The Santee School District Board of Education met at 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Meeting highlights included:

Public Hearing

  • A public hearing was held for: Proposed Increase to Level 1 Developer Fees. Please review the Board Packet for details.

Discussion and/or Action Items

  • California School Boards Association (CSBA) 2026 Delegate Assembly Election: the Board casted a unit vote to fill vacancies for the CSBA Delegate Assembly Region 17 representatives.

  • Approval of Second Interim Report for 2025-26: California school districts are required to prepare and submit interim financial reports so that governing boards, the State Controller, and the Superintendent of Public Instruction are informed of school districts’ financial conditions for the current and future years. The Board approved a positive certification for the Second Interim Report regarding the District's ability to meet its financial obligations for the 2025-26 fiscal year and two subsequent years.

  • Adoption of Resolution No. 2526-09 for Release of Temporary Certificated Non-Management Employees: The resolution was adopted. In order to release temporary certificated employees, the Board must serve notice to those employees who may not be offered employment for the next school year. Since the final impact of leaves, retirements, and other attrition is unknown at this time, the District has a practice of serving a notice of release to all temporary teachers. This notice does not impact the employees’ rights for consideration of employment based upon need during the next school year.

  • Adoption of Resolution No. 2526-10 to Reduce and/or Eliminate Classified Non-Management Positions: The resolution was adopted. All employees resulting in a reduction of work hours and/or layoff will receive the required notification prior to March 15th and will be placed on a reemployment list for no less than 39-months. Any employee affected by these changes will be provided with alternative employment opportunities within the District, if available.

Board Policies and Bylaws

  • First Reading for BP 5131.8 – Mobile Communication Devices.

Budget Workshop

  • The annual Budget Workshop provided the Board an opportunity to review budget priorities and fiscal solvency. The following topics were discussed:

    • Enrollment and Average Daily Attendance

    • LCFF Funding and Impacts of COLA

    • Revised Multi-Year Projection

    • Budget Advisory Committee Considerations
