The Santee School District Board of Education met at 6 p.m. March 4, 2025. Meeting highlights included:
Reports and Presentations
- Spotlight on Education: Cajon Park staff provided an update on student assessment and survey results from the 2023-24 school year as well as site collaboration plans for the 2024-25 school year.
Discussion and/or Action Items
- The Board approved the following 2025 Legislative Goals to share with local legislators:
- Federal
- Seek/support legislation to fully fund formula based federal programs including title programs and special education.
- Seek/support legislation to fully fund our impact aid in support of Military families.
- Seek/support legislation to maintain a national school lunch program.
- State
- Seek/support legislation to increase the base funding for the Local Control Formula in lieu of creating new categorical programs. Schools cannot simply do more with new programs when they are already stretched thin trying to fund basic day-to-day operations.
- Seek/support legislation to create a specialized educational cost of living index that is more representative of change in operational costs for year to year.
- Additional Priorities
- Seek/support legislation to restructure K-14 energy costs for educational institutions and minimize the barriers for renewable energy sources.
- Seek/support legislation to create and fund Statewide training for a skilled and trained workforce. California lacks localized and State trainings for this workforce to allow contracted firms to complete necessary maintenance and operations projects.
- Seek/support legislation to relieve districts of cost for PERS retirement system increases separate from Proposition 98 general fund allocations.
