iReady Reading Diagnostic
Santee uses iReady reading diagnostics, now titled "iReady Inform", as one component of our universal screener in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. The diagnostic is given three times a year and provides teachers with valuable information about students' strengths and areas for growth in phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Math Diagnostic
The other component of our MTSS universal screener is the math diagnostics that are part of the adopted math curricula (Amplify Desmos Math for grades K-5, Imagine Learning Math for grades 6-8).
Reading Difficulties Screener
Students in Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 are annually given an assessment intended to detect any reading difficulties that students may have, in order to provide early intervention and support, as needed. Catching reading difficulties in early primary grades can prevent later reading and achievement gaps that are harder to correct.
Writing Performance Tasks
Once each trimester, students write to a prompt developed by the Santee School District. Teachers choose to have their students produce a narrative writing, opinion piece, or persuasive argument. These tasks are then scored by the teacher to help inform them about students' growth and development in that genre of writing.
