Before You Begin
Please review all sections below to help you prepare for a smooth registration process. The link to the registration portal is at the end of this information.
Your information is safe with us. Many documents can be used to verify your child’s age and residence for enrollment. By law, you do not need to share your child’s immigration or citizenship status to enroll them in school.
Residents
If you are planning to have your student attend your school of residence, you can complete the registration process. Registrations completed after June 1, 2026 will be based on space availability for all residents.
Transfers
Application Window for Intra-district Transfers and Inter-district Transfers: March 2 - May 8, 2026
Important Information:
- Request for an application does not guarantee acceptance at your desired school.
- Requests after the May 8th deadline will be approved as space allows.
- Priority will be given to siblings who live in the same household.
Intra-District Transfer – you live within the Santee School District boundaries and are choosing a school other than your resident school. You will be prompted in the registration process to fill this form out. There are no transportation services for Intra-District Transfers.
Inter-District Attendance Permit– you do not live in the Santee boundaries and wish to attend a Santee School. Please visit the Interdistrict Transfers Page for procedures and guidelines. There are no transportation services for Interdistrict Transfers.
Age/Grade Level Requirements
All Students will be placed in the grade level appropriate with their date of birth:
- Students who are 6 years old on or before September 1, 2026 will be eligible for First Grade.
- Students who are 5 years old on or before September 1, 2026 will be eligible for Kindergarten.
- Students born between September 2, 2021 - September 1, 2022 will be eligible for Transitional Kindergarten (TK). For more information on Transitional Kindergarten, click here.
Please note:
- Current TK students do not need to register. Parents will complete the AIR process.
- Current YALE, State Preschool, and Special Education PK must register as a new student if they are incoming to TK or Kindergarten.
Preschool registration is a separate process. Students that are 2 years, 9 months may be eligible for preschool. Please visit the Preschool page to review preschool options and registration information.
Gather Required Documents
Before you begin the registration process, please have the following documents ready to upload:
- Birth Certificate
- Immunization records. Immunization requirements (English | Spanish). Students will not be placed at a school or on a waitlist without completed immunizations.
- Emergency contact information - trusted adults the school can contact if parents/guardians cannot be reached.
- Proof of Residency - two current forms are required. All proofs of residency must be in the parent/guardian name at the address in which the student lives. Acceptable Proof of Residency examples:
- Current Mortgage statement, Escrow papers or property tax agreement for primary residence
- Current Rental or Lease agreement for primary residence (rent receipt may be required)
- Military housing orders (base housing office written verification)
- Current utility service bill for any of the following: Gas/Electric, Water or Cable, Trash.
