Supplemental Educational Services (SES)

What are Supplemental Educational Services (SES)?

The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 requires that Supplemental Educational Services be offered to students who attend Program Improvement schools and who need additional help to reach state standards in reading, language arts, and/or mathematics. Providers may use small group or one-on-one tutoring sessions outside of normal classroom instruction time (either before or after school, or Saturdays).

Which schools qualify for SES?

Please note: 2015-2016 school year applications for window #1 deadline is Friday, October 23, 2015.

  • PRIDE Academy at Prospect Avenue
  • Chet F. Harritt

Who is eligible for SES?

Students receive priority for supplemental services based on academic and economic need. If the requests for free tutoring exceed available funding, priority is given to the lowest-performing students who qualify for free and reduced price meals.

A provider fair packet with SES application and additional information will be distributed to students by October 9, 2015.
