      Parent Input Form 2021-School Year

First of all, we want to thank you all for your encouragement and support as we completed the 2019-20 school year on June 10.  We know this has been an extremely challenging time for students and their families and we’re hoping this communication will give you a sense of our direction for the 2020-21 school year.

On June 23, 2020, the Santee School District Board of Education voted to communicate that our priority is to bring all students back to campus for daily, full time instruction beginning August 19, 2020, our first day of school.  In addition to this priority, we will be supporting families who want their children to remain at home in the fall with enrollment in our homeschool program.

We are asking for your input as we work to craft the best plan for our students.  Our input form has been posted on the main page of our District website as well as our District Facebook page.  If you receive our email communication today as well, you’ll receive a link directly to the input form.  Input is due by Friday, July 3 at 4 p.m.

Please read, and follow the links below, for the most current information on social emotional learning, summer learning materials, and student meals:

    ·  Social Emotional Learning:

When we return to school in the fall, our staff will be implementing a new social emotional learning curriculum, Second Step. At the classroom level, Second Step works on the development of listening skills, empathy, emotional management, friendship skills, and problem solving. We think the timing of this curriculum implementation is extremely important given the circumstances endured by our students these past few months.

    ·  Two-Week Summer Learning Materials:

Our curriculum department developed a two-week learning extension for any interested families. Parents may pick up paper packets at Educational Services throughout the summer, or you can download the packet digitally beginning this weekend at: http://www.santeesd.net/Page/14503.

    ·  Student Meals:

Student meals continue to be provided to our students until further notice and may be picked up at the following locations:

    - District Office Central Kitchen, 9880 Riverwalk Drive, Monday & Thursday, 11 – 12:30 pm
    - Pepper Drive School, 1935 Marlinda Way, El Cajon, Monday & Thursday, 11 - 12:30 pm

From June 15 - 30, meals will be served for the week over two days (Mondays and Thursdays) only.

    Thank You Thank you

Thank you for taking your time to complete the 2019-20 school/family engagement survey.  Survey questions were developed to better understand community perception of:

    • District expectations of student learning
    • Communication to parents and the community
    • Emotional and physical safety of students
    • Engagement of parents and families in the educational process

The Santee School District is committed to providing a great place for students to learn and for parents to send their children for a quality education. Survey data was shared with the Board of Education on January 21, 2020 and will also be shared as stakeholder feedback in the development of the 2020-21 Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP).
