Providing a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff is a top priority of the Santee School District Board and administration. We will continue to be vigilant about campus security and invite you to assist us - as a school community we all need to be part of the solutions. Parents, please speak with your children about their role in school safety. Let your child know that if they notice any suspicious or threatening behavior, they should report it to an authority figure immediately. It will be quickly investigated, and, if appropriate, reported to law enforcement.
Together, we can keep our students and staff safe on campus.
All children in the United States, regardless of immigration or citizenship status, have a right to a free and appropriate public education free from discrimination, harassment, and intimidation. (Plyler v. Doe, 1982)
Your children are safe on Santee School District campuses. No person identifying themselves as a federal or state immigration agent will be allowed on school grounds without prior written approval from the Superintendent or a lawfully executed court order signed by a judge. Santee School District employees will not collect or share any information about students or families, including immigration status, except as allowed by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
In the event a family member is detained, students will be released only to individuals listed as contacts with school pickup rights. To update or add emergency contacts, please contact your school’s office.
