Age Requirements/Enrollment Priorities
Children are enrolled in order of specific program admission priorities. Guildelines are established by the California Department of Education. These priorities are as follows:
- 1st Priority is given to: (a) age eligible 2-, 3- and 4- year olds who are recipients of Child Protective Services (CPS) or who are at risk of being neglected, abused or exploited and for whom there is a written referral from a legal, medical, or social service agency (b) the percent of funded enrollment set-aside amount for age eligible 2, 3- and 4- year olds with exceptional needs.
- 2nd Priority is given to age eligible 2-, 3- and 4- year olds with exceptional needs from families that meet the income eligibility requirements. Ranking priorities are: (a) lowest income ranking (b) two families with same income ranking, enroll Dual Language Learner first (c) application date.
- 3rd Priority is given to: (1) children who turn 4 years old on or before December 1st not enrolled in TK. Ranking priorities are: (a) lowest income ranking (b) two families with same income ranking, enroll Dual Language Learner first (c) application date. (2) Children who turn 3 years old on or before December 1st. Ranking priorities are: (a) lowest income ranking (b) two families with same income ranking, enroll Dual Language Learner first (c) application date. (3) Children who have had their 2nd birthday. Ranking priorities are: (a) lowest income ranking (b) two families with same income ranking, enroll Dual Language Learner first (c) application date.
- 4th Priority is given to children from families whose gross income does not exceed 15% above the income eligibility threshold. (1) 2-, 3- and 4- year old exceptional needs children (2) 4- year olds. Ranking priorities are: (a) lowest income ranking (b) two families with same income ranking, enroll Dual Language Learner first (c) application date. (3) 3- year olds. Ranking priorities are: (a) lowest income ranking (b) two families with same income ranking, enroll Dual Language Learner first (c) application date. (4) 2- year olds. Ranking priorities are: (a) lowest income ranking (b) two families with same income ranking, enroll Dual Language Learner first (c) application date.
If your child exceeds the age limit above, he/she may be eligible for another program below for the 24-25 school year.

Families who meet the age eligible requirements, also need to meet the income guidelines set by the California Department of Education (CDE).

Other Requirements
Child must reside in San Diego County.
Physician’s report must be filled out and signed by your child’s physician and submitted with the registration packet.
Immunizations required:
- DTap-four doses
- Polio-three doses
- Hep B-three doses
- MMR-one dose on or after 1st birthday
- Varicella-one dose
- HIB-one dose after 1st birthday
