The Santee School District Board of Education met at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 18. Meeting highlights included:
Reports and Presentations
- President Elana Levens-Craig shared a recap of the Summer Academy program for her Santee School District Proud Moment. The program served over 500 students who enjoyed outdoor activities, project-based learning and engaged in rigorous skills building. Read the full recap here.
- The Board thanked Pathways Church and the volunteers, staff and other community partners that contributed to School Beautification Day. Volunteers completed several projects at each school site to get campuses ready for the first day of school.
Discussion and Action Items
- The Board approved an amendment to the Superintendent’s employment contract based on a satisfactory performance evaluation. Amendments included extending the contract through June 30, 2025; an increase to the base salary; and an additional, one-time, 4% salary distribution based on the 2022-23 base salary.
- The Board adopted a resolution authorizing the purchase and installation of security cameras at all District schools. The software developer, the Organization for Educational Technology (OETC) presented an overview of the system features and installation process. This project is projected to be complete by spring 2023.
