ELP Curriculum

Expanded Learning Programs Curriculum and Enrichment Opportunities

To meet California Quality Standards, ELP focuses on three main components in the before/after school program: academic enrichment, health and wellness, and community partnerships.

Academic Enrichment

ELP utilizes two types of curriculum in daily programming - one literacy-based called LitArt, and one Social Emotional Learning (SEL) based called Second Step. Each month we celebrate a different culture through our Global Spotlight series.

Health and Wellness

Our health and wellness component focuses on outdoor cooperative play for 30 to 45 minutes of the daily program. This component incorporates moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA), which promotes brain health, strengthens bones, and muscles, and improves ability to do everyday activities. Cooperative play promotes all children to be engaged and provides skills in problem-solving, teamwork, and supports social emotional learning.

Community Partnerships

Community partnerships have been made with enrichment programs throughout San Diego County. Children rotate each week with a community partner to learn new skill sets in STEM and the Arts. Our partnerships will allow families to engage in culminating events that celebrate their child’s talents and accomplishments. Read more about our partners and enrichment programs below.
