Deferred Compensation Program Information


The opportunity to participate in a voluntary supplemental retirement program

is available to all Santee School District employees and substitute employees.

There are two types of programs available:

  • Empower Retirement Plans, which are administered through the Fringe Benefits Consortium (FBC), the provider for the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE).Investment options include 403b, 457b, and Roth accounts.Click here for Empower Information Flyer

  • Outside Vendor Plans (Non-Empower), which are administered by SchoolsFirst, the Third Party Administrator for the District. How to Get Started

NEW Empower Participants:

 Enroll online to open account at []

  1. Include contribution amount during online process

CURRENT Empower Participants:

       1. Log into online account at [] to make                   changes to contributions on the homepage. 

NEW Non-Empower Participants:

  1. See list of approved vendors at 
  2. Enroll through vendor to open account
  3. Go to SchoolsFirst website to enter contribution information or complete Salary Reduction Agreement then fax directly to SchoolsFirst.

CURRENT Non-Empower Participants wanting to change contribution amount:

  1. Go to SchoolsFirst website  to enter contribution change/re-start or complete Salary Reduction Agreement then fax directly to SchoolsFirst.

Note – The Payroll Department will receive notification from SchoolsFirst to set up payroll deductions for all new accounts and changes.
