Gavin Lagalo, 5th grader at PRIDE Academy, is asking the community to help be the difference through a special project he created to help people experiencing homelessness.
The Gavin Helps the Homeless Project was born earlier this year after an encounter Gavin had on his way to school.
“After driving to school and handing a person experiencing homelessness money, I turned to my mom and said, I wish we could do more!” said Gavin.
Through this project Gavin hopes to create 250 hygiene kits, which include items like socks, body wipes, toothbrushes, a first aid kit, and more. At the end of March, the kits will be given to the Crisis House in Santee.
You can help Gavin reach his goal of 250 kits by contributing to his Amazon Wishlist. Gavin hopes to complete multiple service projects throughout the year, so be sure to follow along on his Instagram.
