  Prospect Avenue State Preschool

Overview

The Prospect Avenue State Preschool Program is a state-funded preschool program with income eligibility guidelines, and age, residency, and immunization requirements, established by the California Department of Education. Please read the Requirements for State Preschool tab as it goes over each requirement in detail.

Operations

Preschool classes are in session for 3 hours, Monday through Friday. There is no care offered for State Preschool and parents/guardians are responsible for drop off and pick up. We follow the District’s school calendar. We offer AM session times that start as early as 8 am, and PM session times that start as early as 11:40 am. Parents may request a preferred time, but it is not a guarantee.

Prospect Avenue Preschool Annex is located at:                 8655 Ellsworth Lane in Santee

Preschoolers are served a full breakfast or lunch. These meals are subsidized and there is no charge to parents.

Goals

Our teachers have a program committed to the following goals:

  • Meet the individual developmental needs of each child
  • Help nurture each child’s self-esteem and relationship with other children
  • Provide a safe, healthy environment where children can feel free to discover and learn
  • Encourage each child to develop problem solving skills and decision making abilities
  • Introduce each child to music, art, literature, friendship and creative play
  • Meet the needs of parents in further developing parenting skills

Our preschool program helps prepare children for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten.
