The Santee School District Board of Education met at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 2. Meeting highlights included:

Reports and Presentations

  • President Elana Levens-Craig shared a recap of the three-day OpenSciEd Summer Institute training for her Santee School District Proud Moment. These three days were dedicated towards training 6th to 8th grade teachers on the various components of the OpenSciEd materials and provided support with the implementation of the new curriculum. Discussion and Action Items

  • The Board approved the appointment of Davina Hale as Out-of-School Time Coordinator. Ms. Hale has been serving as the Director of Expanded Learning for The Children’s Initiative since November 2021. Prior that that, Ms. Hale served Lemon Grove School District since 2009 as an Expanded Learning Program Secretary and Expanded Learning Program Site Leader, and as a Child Care Supervisor for the East County Family YMCA.

  • At the December 7, 2021 meeting, the Board of Education approved a conceptual plan for transitioning some or all of the District’s bus fleet to electric vehicles. In order to offset some of the increased electricity load created by installing electric vehicle charging infrastructure, the Board approved a consulting agreement with Sage Energy Consulting to research the possibility of installing solar panels at the District office.

The next meeting of the Santee School District Board of Education will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2022, in the Educational Resource Center, 9619 Cuyamaca, Santee.
